Research has proven that there is “energy” in, through, and around our physical bodies. When the energy is blocked, our physical, mental and emotional systems bog down, which can result in bad health, depression and feelings of isolation.
 Reiki healing works on the energy system that underlies the bones, tissues, and fluids of the body's physical structure. Irregularities in the energy system eventually manifest negatively in the physical structure, giving rise to symptoms of ill health. As a Reiki practitioner, I am trained to sense energy blockages and subtle energy fluctuations and to focus attention on that location. Reiki heals by allowing spiritually-guided life energy to flow through the affected parts of the energy field and positively charge them. In the process, negative energy breaks apart and falls away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens, and heals the energy pathways, allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way. Consequently, the physical body is encouraged back to a state of balance and health.
Clients have a range of reactions to this technique. Some feel emotional and mental calming after a session; some experience a decrease in stress and anxiety; others report a boost in their energy level
Reiki originated in Japan. The word means “universal life energy.” The practice was developed in 1922 by Mikao Usui. The technique is frequently used for stress reduction, relaxation, and by people recovering from surgery or experiencing side effects from cancer treatments. According to the 2007 National Health Interview Survey, which included a comprehensive survey of complementary and alternative medicine use by Americans, more than 1.2 million adults had used an energy healing therapy, such as Reiki, in the previous year. The survey also found that approximately 161,000 children had used an energy healing therapy in the previous year.
